BUNA, Batu (3-4/5) Head of General Affairs, Law and Administration, Dra. Rosadah Agustin Syarief, M.A.B., opened a “Workshop on News Writing and Social Media Management for Public Relations Staff at Brawijaya University” which was held by Brawijaya Public Relations at Aston Inn, Batu. The event, which was attended by representatives from each UPT and Faculty, presented 3 resource persons, namely Abdul Munthallib, Senior Editor of Radar Malang, Husnun Djuraid, Commissioner of Malang Post, and Doddy Zulkifli Indra Atmaja, Head of Subdivision of Publication and News of the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education.
Abdul gave material about “Depth News Writing Techniques”. He said that writing was an easy thing. This can be done in conjunction with reading habits which will provide insight into the writing style. Because some newspapers already have their writing style. Meanwhile, Husnun gave material about "Straight News Writing Techniques". In contrast to depth news, straight news has a more formal style of language and tends not to include personal opinions in the writing.
On the last day of the workshop, Doddy from the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education gave material about social media management. He also provides facts related to the use of social media and how to gain engagement with followers on social media. This event is expected to increase the knowledge of public relations staff regarding publications and social media management.
